Brighton 29th April – Ivor Cutler and Hauntology

Stephen Mallinder, musicologist and former singer with Cabaret Voltaire, uses examples from his own life and others to explore how digital culture is changing our relationship with music, focusing on our shifting sense of nostalgia and the effects of ‘hauntology’.

Sandy Grierson is the actor playing Ivor Cutler in ‘The Beautiful Cosmos of Ivor Cutler, appearing this May in the Brighton festival. Together with other fellow performers, Sandy will explore Ivor’s life, his relationship with poet Phyllis King and his music. This talk will be peppered with live performances, video clips and an audience singalong at the end.
